Privacy Policy

Short version: when you use the background remover, your image is processed inside your own browser and is never sent to us or anyone else. This page explains exactly what happens, technically.

1. How the tool processes your images

Deback's background remover runs entirely client-side. Concretely, this means:

  • When you choose an image, it is read into your browser tab's memory using the File API. It is not uploaded to any server operated by us.
  • The AI segmentation model runs in your browser via WebGPU or WebAssembly. The pixel data never leaves your device during processing.
  • The resulting transparent PNG is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device.
  • Closing the tab discards the image from memory. We have no copy because we never received one.

This local-processing architecture is the default and only mode of the free tool. If a future feature ever required server-side processing, it would be offered as a clearly labeled separate option — never silently substituted.

2. Third parties your browser contacts

Even though your image stays local, your browser necessarily contacts a few third-party services to load the page and the AI model. These contacts transmit standard web-request metadata (such as your IP address and user agent) but never your image data:

  • Our static host (the content delivery network serving this website's HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
  • jsDelivr CDN (cdn.jsdelivr.net) — delivers the Transformers.js inference library file.
  • Hugging Face CDN (huggingface.co) — delivers the open-licensed AI model weight files. This is a static file download, like downloading any file; no image content is sent in return.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics (cloudflareinsights.com) — counts aggregate page visits. Cookie-free and does not track individual users; see §3.

We do not control these providers' logging practices; refer to their published privacy policies if this concerns you.

3. What we collect

We do not operate user accounts and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details to use the free tool.

Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count aggregate page visits (which pages are viewed, roughly how often). It is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not track you across sites. It measures page loads only — it never sees, receives, or records your image contents.

Server logs: our static host may keep standard web-server logs (request timestamps, URLs, IP addresses) as part of normal operations. We do not combine these with any personal data because we collect none.

4. Cookies and local storage

We do not set tracking cookies. Your browser may cache the AI model files locally (via the Cache Storage API) so repeat visits are faster — this cache lives on your device, is under your control, and contains model weights, not your images. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

5. Children's privacy

This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the tool requires no account and collects no personal data, there is nothing to delete — but a parent or guardian with questions may contact us below.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including California and the EU/UK), you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Because we do not collect personal data through the tool, most requests will have nothing to act on — but we will respond to any inquiry in good faith.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted plainly, not buried.
